It is not possible to turn it off to "show hidden files". After closing and
restarting nautilus you can see the hidden files again.

Ubuntu's file manager), so until it is fixed, if ever, you can use a
different file manager that does not rely on gvfs, like Krusader, in

best guess is there's something wrong in the development side.
