Instead Ubuntu thinks its a BCM21553-Thunderbird from Broadcom an tries to
mount it as mtp-device --> no access to internal / external sd-card of this

This problem is still present in 13.10 and trusty. As long as you use
the affected nvidia chipset on the motherboard. I upgraded the computer
I have with this motherboard just to see if the bug is still there. I
won't be upgrading it anymore. So I can't give any more feedback and
hereby unsubscribe

Okay this is interesting. If I start Gimp 2.8 and then open or import an
image to work on, it'll let me save to xcf or export no problem.
But if Gimp is invoked by right clicking on the image, that's when I can
immediately save.
So at least I have a workaround

the image you attached has no preview/image details in the properties
here. Did you install some extra package to support that image format or
similar? It would be useful to get a gdb backtrace of nautilus while
it's hanging (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace) ... could you do that?

There is probably a deeper issue here in that 'monitor_files' should
only get called when the Fontconfig config changes (Based on the return
