I have added a patch that fixes the issue of the compact view default
zoom level being ignored (while it actually wrongly reacted to the icon
view default zoom level!), as described in the duplicates of this bug

Not only Alt-Tab is lost, any shortcut managed through the metacity
entries can be affected by this.
Joel already explained what is happening and what the possible solutions

That just breaks the scheme of things for me, most of the packages ship statics
with -dev packages while pango ships only a part of it, making static linking

I've got an iMac 2006 and I often work with emacs and terminal.
