My fstab doesn't have the acl option set, and I don't recall the acl
option ever being there before. I installed this machine years ago from
9.04. Would the 9.04 installer have set that option? If not, perhaps

Update to 3.7 (split into mutliple source packages)

I am running ubuntu 12.10. This bug started when I installed ubuntu
12.04 and has persisted into ubuntu 12.10.
The computer does not have floppy disk drive but ubuntu displays one in
the file manager. Is there a way to disable it? Thank you.

im sorry for the long delay for answering. I cant say that command is
usefull, as i was only "curious" about the sound settings on my desktop,
and found that command, nothing more. So maybe you can silent it or
tweak the gnome-media description or ...

The ubuntu installer never put the "acl" option into /etc/fstab. On my
quantal-installed system I have no such option:
$ grep acl /proc/mounts /etc/fstab
$
I don't see any tune2fs in our installers either. So what I suspect is
that mkfs enables the option by default these days, but hasn't in the
sudo dumpe2fs -h /dev/sda1 | grep 'mount options'
dumpe2fs 1.42.5 (29-Jul-2012)
Default mount options:(none)
