This is indeed another problem. Regarding avoiding missing entries,
you can delete them from inside Rhythmbox (right click->Move To Trash).
Rhythmbox settings are in ~/.local/share/rhythmbox . So I guess this

When first started, rhythmbox's rhythmbox-metadata process tends to grab
all available memory (up to 1.1 GB) for a few seconds, then releases
everything for a while. Then it slowly creeps up to 1.1 GB again. This
repeats indefinitely until I manually kill the offending process
It appears that the two categories of concern, 'Wine' and 'Electronics',
have all of their application items listed in the 'Other' category, if
this provides a clue.
