On a second, fresh installed system everything works fine. As the bugopener i
had the AMD FGLRX driver installed. I uninstalled it, because of a bug. Perhaps
this caused the problem.

Of course it's still present. What did you expect? This bug to be fixed?
Of course not. In the Linux world bugs it's common to not fix bugs. Just
live with it or use another operating system. It's as easy as that.

I can confirm that changing to a suspend and then back to "never" kept the
computer from suspending.
I can also confirm what Gremlyn1 said. Once screen is set to never turn off, it
immediately starts dimming...
