problem is fixed, ie. finally i am able to set my "Turn off after" to

I have to agree with the above comment. Just updated, while the screen now

The OP bug description is rather vague and the comments saying me too
are equally vague.
The original bug for me was that there was basically no automatic
suspend/hibernate prior to this bug being fixed so my laptop even on
battery power would never suspend. I assume this was the case with the

My desktop has suspend disabled through all GUI options I can find, yet
it still suspends, and can never be woken up. Makes ubuntu 11.10 totally

I have the same issue.
It happens pretty often.
I usually go around by closing some programs (firefox, virtual box) sometimes
that's enough. Otherwise log off / log in always fixes it.
Interestingly, I was able to reproduce this with a mp3!
VLC was working with the MP3, whereas with the movi
The same problem here with Ubuntu 11.10 beta 2 64 bit on a desktop PC
without any battery. The "Dim option" is no longer available in System
Settings -> Screen. A monitor is dimmed immediately when the PC becomes
inactive. Setting turn off after 1 hour helps a bit.
