When the system starts to boot up see if you can get into a terminal by
typing ALT_CTRL_T and type the following command (you have to be
connected to the internet)
sudo apt-get upgrade; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get -y upgrade;
This should install any updates that you don't have. Then reboot
Evolution is still crashing, but apport doesn't seem to want to catch it
unless the factory process dies, which it is not doing. Anyhow I
attached a gdb backtrace.

I can confirm this behaviour. Looking at /org/gnome/gnome-system-log in
dconf-editor, I see there is a logfiles property, which is set to an empty list
by default. (The list had a single item to begin with, because I had opened a
log file earlier, and clicking the Set to Default button cleared i

For sure, but neither the natty nor the recent oneiric versions
actually shipped any symlinks, and I'm fairly sure we didn't introduce
them at any time during oneiric.

This bug only applies to and is valid on lucid as per the description,
at this point a bit late in the day anyway
Jotham - 11.10 uses nautilus 3, totally different - if you have an
issue with nautilus best to file a new bug against nautilus in 11.10

confirm no crashes - now have another problem:-
Background graphic now displaced down and right. Right click on actual
background works OK. Right click on non-background (initially black,
holds last image of window over that part of background) does nothing -
no menu.
