I don't know it it's related, but if I disable overlay scrollbar before running
vlc, then metacity doesn't crash

But I can copy existing launchers from other Ubuntu partitions and they work,
so clearly support for the launcher itself has not been dropped. It's just the
GUI tool for creating the launcher that has been lost. But I guess if this is

India>Malayalam, the key "q" in Malayalam layout(qwerty keyboard)
prints "ൌ"(U+0D4C) symbol, also the same is printed with "Q" in
Malayalam Lalitha Layout, But it should be printing "ൗ"(U+0D57)
