Oh dear, I forgot to check whether this was still a problem with Natty.
I've been busy with work.
Even though this is now automatically expired, I'd still like to confirm
that this is still an issue in Natty. It is an issue when the font size
is changed both when the terminal is in fullscreen mode
... and they aren't going to fix it. They removed the configuration
options on purpose.
Gnome-tweak-tool provides this functionality, though (that's an Ubuntu-
developed app, isn't it?) It shows up as 'Advanced Settings' and it
would be a nice workaround for this bug if Advanced Settings appeared

I'm on a laptop and I run Oneiric in a Virtualbox machine. Fn+F6/F7 changes the
screen lightness but without any visual (like the main OS, Natty has).
I get this on running that command:
No backlights were found on your system
I am not sure I still experience this bug as I run the machine for sh
Still happens in lucid as well. Sometimes I get lucky, other times I
come back to find nautilus is taking 1-2GB of memory. I think it also
happens when you are viewing a folder that's updating a lot.

hardware. If you run in a VM it is unlikely that a backlight will be
present - afaik VirtualBox/QEMU do not emulate a backlight. It would be
poor isolation if a guest VM going to LCD standby took down the host

I appear to be online to my contacts but i can't send or receive
messages. Checked all proxy setup and it is ok with other applications.
I tried even to uncheck in the proxy setup the "use same setting for all
protocols" but the problem remains

This is NOT fixed in oneiric, at least not in version 3.1.90-0ubuntu1
which is the most recent available.
I won't mess with the settings, as this affects a lot of people, but the
bug is still valid, the text box doesn't expand vertically, only
horizontally and the chat window resizes accordingly.
You can also use gconf editor to do this, but it's not exactly user-
friendly is it?
