Afther the described seps i had to do sudo pkill gnome-panel and i got the
skype-icon. so problem.
but if i log out and log in again and start skype i don't have the skype
icon again so i have ti pkil the gnome-panel every login.

The same for me. Only the first user appears in gdm and this happens
just randomly. If I log in to the first user and then log out then all
users appear again. Very annoying bug, which is really a problem for
less experienced users - they just don't know what to do.

directly from here to the terminal, so it is not a typo.
Strangely, setting env LANG with firefox or thunderbird actually worked
on the last three Ubuntu versions, even though it may be incorrect to
