is more likely an issue in PulseAudio settings in the Ubuntu version
where this bug was reported than in gnome-volume-control.
We have further proof of this since it is probably a device-specific
issue: my card doesn't behave
On my system gdm failed to start with version 2.32.0-0ubuntu10.
With the gdm.conf from comment 15 I confirm that 1), 2) and 3) work fine
now. I rebooted four times, with gdm properly starting every time.

I have this issue. I do NOT use GTalk on Empathy, I only use AIM, MSN,
and Y!M. When I set my status to invisible in empathy it sets me to

After a little extra experimentation, it seems that it's the list view
that is the problem. Any folder I view in icon view is fine, I normally
use list view, which is why my home folder is affected.

bug 686172, which likely doesn't only affect remote devices. Pedro, I
think you should subscribe to that bug for the suspend/restore issue
(and yes, it's most likely in pulseaudio).
