addresses (I believe), so after a few minutes, I aborted it. I made a

I can confirm now that this has nothing to do with the gnome settings. I

allow the user to choose between "Automatically set time from Internet"
and "manual time".
However, those options don't do what they sound like because of ntpdate
I'd say let's just install ntpd by default, and stop running ntpdate
automatically, because it 1) only runs when (re)connecting, which is
kind of misleading and not correct on servers and 2) isn't currently
reported in the GUI as automated Internet time sync, while it's actually
doing this in the b

Internet" option works, we don't quite want to replicate time-admin's

As a work around, I am using Shotwell to import from my camera. It does
a good job and allows me to erase from the camera after importing. I am
not crazy about the way it organizes the imported pictures by date,
several layers deep. I just tell it to save to my desktop and then move

Binary package hint: brasero
The option 'Replace disc' in the sense of the physical disc can quite
easily be confused with replacing the contents, the option intended by
'blank disc'. Could I suggest eject disc or something more clear?

Yes, it's still an issue in Maverick. I'm experiencing it for several
years already... The problem is not in encoding, it's keyboard layout
(language?) switch that is not shown by the indicator.
My test case: 2 input languages, English and Russian, indicator (not
indicator-applet, the GDM one) sho
OK, I got it to work. Based on your comments, I changed the command in the
menu for gThumb Photo Import Tool to:
sh -c 'gphoto2 ; exec gthumb --import-photos'
and that did the trick. Apparently you can't mention anything about gvfs any
more.

Paolo, you need to right click Applications the select "Edit Menus". In the
resulting window, select Graphics on the left side and then on the right side,
right click gThumb Photo Import Tool. Select Properties and in the resulting
window, change the command in the "Command" box to read:
sh -c
I added a 'ls -lt' of my /bin/dir in case it can help. I don't see
anything else suspicious. I figured a timely ordering of the list was
most convenient.
