I think it has to do with the order that things are loaded in. I have
tried it on ext3 and the problem persisted. It seems like most of us are
using i7 as well, so maybe someone should try to delay the X
server/gnome DE from loading until gnome-settings-daemon is already

Same problem on an ASUS Eee PC. I noticed that when I run iwconfig
while on AC power my bit rate was 5.5 Mb/s, and on battery it would
change to 54 Mb/s. When I go back to AC power, the rate drops back to
5.5 Mb/s. Perhaps the problem is that the driver is selecting a speed
that is not compatibl

I am a newbie. I started using Ubuntu 10.04 and upgraded to 10.10
successfully on a dual boot PC with Vista. For the last 1 week I am
unable to boot into Ubuntu 10.10. I have tried booting with Live CD. Can
anyone help me to fix the problem
To clarify, when I say "context menu hasn't "Paste", "Create Document",
and "Create Folder" options" I mean that the options are dimmed,
unavailable.

What kind of NVidia card do you have? I have the proprietary NVidia
drivers installed too, and the brightness applet does work. It is
responding very slowly and generates roughly 50% CPU usage, but it does
change the brightness.

Which version of xpdf did you install? After installing XPDF with
synaptic from the repositories, namely 3.02-9ubuntu1, xpdf renders the
document ok. Evince does not.

In Lucid, gnome-terminal doesn't support copying with smart Ctrl-C. This
is a functionality regression.
Hardy behavior:
- have text selected with the mouse => CRTL-C is "Copy"
- have no text selected wit
