This has just happened to me with Maverick beta fully updated.
I don't really know what was I doing. I think that I closed the the
keyboard layout that I opened from the keyboard indicator, and then
presed alt+9.
Can I add something to this report to make the problem easier to solve?

This time it will not give me unlock option. Mouse is active but no keys
seem to do anything for the x-session.

CTRL-ALT-F1 does allow me to log into another terminal session. I

libstdc++5 is back, even after the declaration that “A number of people
are also unhappy about the libstdc++5 removal. That's not coming back

Did some other tests. The problem seems to happen only when I use the
evolution-mapi plugin. Retrieving messages using IMAP they are displayed
correctly.

When list view is enabled, Nautilus takes a long time (7-10 sec) to load a
directory...even those relatively small (100 sub-directories..maybe 20 files).
Changing to icon view makes things go a little faster,,maybe loading the same
directory
