I am pretty sure this has already been fixed in upstream nautilus. At
least it is in nautilus-elementary and the developer stated somewhere

I've fixed this issue by building agains libslab 2.30.0.
To fix this bug here this could be done:
1. Upgrade libslab0a from 2.27.91-3 to 2.30.0 (or add as a new pkg)
2. Add build depends to gnome-control-center for libslab-dev
Or backport the libslab fix to the libslab version included in gnome-
ok.
so why would the GNOME settings daemon make changes to the session without
input from the user other than opening a GUI to access it? And why would it
make changes to things other than the GUI was designed to do? And why would it
make changes that it cannot change back?

I run GNOME with UBUNTU and have since 8.04.
So I compared GNOME processes running (ps aux | grep gnome) for my
system (10.04 dist-upgraded) to a clean install on the same hardware,
and "/usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon" is running on
the clean install but not on the upgrade.
Forget gnome-system-monitor, my oversight.

I can confirm this issue also. I have 2 Acer Aspire Ones with Lucid, and
both have a (physical) problem with the power cord, so that charging

I got a message that randr was not found.
So I commented out the randr false in serverflags in xorg.conf (#10

It is an environment variable problem: while a 'passwd' process run from
a terminal inherits all environment variables (and among them
GNOME_KEYRING_CONTROL and DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS), the 'passwd'
process run from 'gnome-about-me' is given an empty environment.

sprint but had some copyright issue, that's still being tracked as a bug
to fix for maverick though

jabber server anymore (I use 'old SSL' on port 5223). The account was
still there, but the password field was blank. After adding my password
back in, everything was fine.
