I tested Maverick daily ISO 20100707 on VirtualBox (in low resolution --

Same problem here. I replaced /usr/bin/gnome-screensaver with a shell
script that dumped ps details to a file. It appears to run five times in
total - I'm guessing three times on boot, and another two times on login
given the 21 second lag.

Ubuntu 8.10 is EOL now and 9.04 will be in a few months. I think it's
reasonable to say this won't get fixed for 9.04 now so I will mark it as
wontfix - I'd suggest 8.10 or 9.04 users upgrade to 9.10 or 10.04 LTS to

I still see this intermittently - every 3 or 4 logins roughly,
irrespective of whether the login is after a boot. This has persisted
over multiple installs (9.10 and 10.04, both x86-64). These were clean
installs, not upgrades, with no configuration files copied, either user
or system (except Fir

Same problem with lucid release. I finally used gconf-editor to modify
the "audioscrobbler" entry within apps/rhythmbox to change the password
there. After I did that (and restarted Rhythmbox) the problem was
solved.

already included in Ubuntu 10.04 and I suspect 9.10 also.
