I also figured out how to fix it, I just logged into another console
(Alt+Ctrl F1) while in GDM. There I wrote "sudo killall magnifier", and
after that I could access the settings again and turn it off.

I have the same issue as Pablo and I also noticed after fixing the
transparency slider that was the only way to fix. I'm sure it is a bug
since it is not optimal to need to switch to transparency to achieve a
solid background.

if you look at the backtrace you attached you'll see a lot of #2

So this seems to be a very easy to eliminate bug. Is there any chance
that this can be done in the near future? This would be very cool, since
I'm too dumb to compile without errors (aside from having seemingly too
