Worked fine for me, after I removed the openGL libraries from the nvidia

Found that the swap file was not large enough to allow the computer to
hibernate.
Had (2) 20G drives in the system. Now Removed.
Install a new SATA 500G HD and system runs fine.
Found that the swap file needs to be 2-3 times larger then the RAM you have.

OK, Tony's problem was that compiz was not installed but was configured
to be used. Was this after upgrading from Karmic?
The original problem in the other bug was also compiz missing, which the
reporter fixed by installing meta-packages. I don't think that bug

the pstree command right after log-in. I made a bootchart and mount runs in an
instant. I do observe though those long idle times at login.

I got the same bug here today - freezing on start up. Killing alarm-
notify (as per RODRIQUEZ) allowed Evolution to start. So, this bug,
reported over a year ago, still seems to be in the program.

Alpha 2. My Sound applet has all volumes at max and nothing muted. I'm
not sure what the "mixer" is, but I have sound in rhythmbox and in
Nautilus when hovering over sound files. I just did full update to lucid

Nobody has fixed this yet it looks like. So I cannot load any DVD
software with a .exe file (ironically which includes the new external
DVD drive I just got)
I think I am ready to upgrade to Windows, this ubuntu seems like a nice
concept but pretty useless.
