hanging on login because with the --login option, it's waiting for the
password to be passed by PAM via stdin, which never happens. While it's

Indeed. I thought I had seen the contrary. So the problem lies somewhere
else, we'd need to see if it's hanging in some function call, or if it's
simply not grabbing the D-Bus name. It's not impossible that when
logging in without password, the race condition described by bug 573387
happens. Just a

I could not get Brasero to work either. It kept saying "unknown fault".
Then it would eject the disk. After many attempts, I replaced the
drive. It was older, but known to be good. No help.
On advice from the forum, I tried Xfburn. Sometimes it says it cant
unmount the media, sometimes it say

This is fixed when I disable the "floppy" in the PC bios. The machine
does have a floppy drive but I have no idea if it works or not. But once
its disabled the automounting works.

I have a similar problem.
I upgraded from karmic to lucid recently.
Before that I could login to my servers with my id_rsa key. Since that
upgrade it is not possible.
