The ideal fix I suppose would be to either remove wanda the fish from
the default installation, add a dependency for the fortune module for wanda.

Complete removal of the compiz packages via synaptic package manager SOLVED it
for me too - thanks Davide.
I tried reinstallation first, and that didn't fix it.
Don't know what Compiz did - if it's just 3d-effects too subtle to
notice, I'm happy now.

Would it be possible then, to have different applications in the tray
behave the same? Transmission and Rhythmbox, both in the indicator-
applet, behave different: Rhythmbox shows up, no matter how it was
before, Transmission opens or closes, depending on if it was open or

I initially intended to attach this bug report to bug #582653. My apologies
since I'm a noob here, first bug report :) . Fresh install of 10.04 with
separate home partition carry over from 9.04. From the 9.04 installation only
the home directories were untouched so all my Evolution settings a
