same here. i never used tracker but the daemon was running. after
killing tracker, i get results again.
i'm still wondering why this never happened earlier because it seems to
me like i'd seen tracker processes running in karmic as well without

I think this is a duplicate of bug #544358, which fortunately was fixed
in upstream six days ago, and waiting to be fixed in ubuntu.
Have you tried selecting all the 132 without holding the shift key?
A workaround is to left-click and scroll with the mouse wheel.

thumbnail cache some time after logging in, and that is where the IO
comes from
