Sorry for being ambigous, by "screen saver idle" I meant screen saver
not active. The re-writes occur quite regularly around every half an
hour. The screen saver settings were not changed since the system was
started so this is not the case. I'll try to reproduce in Lucid when I

This error (cp1251 codepage in zip archive) was not present in ubuntu

It's difficult for me to run the xlist command because I just
experienced a terrible drive crash which totally wrecked my system.
However, I remember this not happening recently. I login using a hand
held device (an iPhone) that tunnels to the system using ssh port
forwarding. Vnc runs through xi

could somebody still having the issue please install the rhythmbox,
gstreamer*, libglib2, libgtk2 dbgsym packages and get a new log? the one
submitted is missing a lot of symbols, thanks in advance.

Similar problem here: I can get back my window decorations etc. by
starting metacity in a terminal, but if I try to enable the visual
effects (from 'none' to 'normal'), metacity asks me if I want to keep
the settings, but then hangs itself. If I close the dialog window, I get
this output in the ter

10.04 b2. But I'm going back to 9.10 now, too many problems
