It's been some time since I last saw this bug, but it's never been easily
reproducible and it definitely occurred during Lucid development.
It occurred more frequently when changing the view while loading a very large
directory

When I press the "sleep" button on my Thinkpad T61 on Kubuntu Lucid it does not

and releasing the slider on what is hopefully the correct volume level
