This isn't like to be a gnome-settings-daemon issue. It's more likely
that your volume keys aren't producing a key release event. Could you
stop gnome-settings-daemon, run "xev" and tell me if you see a key
release event when you press the volume key?

Yes, the arrow points in the direction that the menu will expand. However
the arrow on top of the icon doesn't look right. The indicator applets also
have menus when you click on them, but don't have arrows. Hence I question
the need of an arrow on the menu.

Still doesn't work in Karmic. I just upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 yesterday. I
checked, I have the latest version of gnome-settings-daemon, but I still can't
switch to left-handed. I have a Dell Inspiron 1545, if it matters.
Makes it mildly tempting to switch back to Windows.

A thought I was having is: could this be the result of something like a

Just wondering. If I take a break from work again, I might toy abit with
different themes, and see what that does.
