The screensaver didn't appeare and the gss-debug.txt file is still
empty.
Note that sometimes the screensaver appears. It seems it doesn't depend
on the running desktop applications.
While the latest bug occurence, There was Thunderbird and Firefox

I would just like to chime in with a "me too" since I just had to tidy
up something by directly manipulating mimeapps.list.
I also use this feature and would like to see it continue to be
available and also to be something that can be fully utilized without
resorting to manually dinkering around

yes, xfce says "won't fix" and gnome-screensaver also says "won't fix"
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=592093)... It's just sad to see how
people don't care how their softs can be used in other configurations...
So let's go back using xscreen-saver.
