The issue is that, it's difficult to use. Many (most) laptops does have
only 2 buttons for left and right mouse button. It seems natural to use
something simpler as 2 finger tap to simulate that missing button.

Thanks for taking time to report this bug and make ubuntu better. The
problem you are reporting in my opinion is not a but. Empathy/Telepathy
at the moment does not support file transfer and desktop sharing for
that matter. Only if the other user is using Empathy/Pidgin you can send
files. So I am

you please quit empathy, remove ~/.config/Empathy ~/.gconf/apps/empathy
~/.mission-control and then reboot and start empathy. This should solve
the problem for you. If that does not work can you please install the
development rel

Can you please start a terminal and do sudo apt-get update ;sudo apt-get
dist-upgrade Doing this will update you empathy version and should solve
the problem. If the problem still exists after doing the above command
please let us know.
