I am getting exactly the same as this on my eee901 with 10.04a2
cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state - fixes it and slighly dims the screen
Also plugging the charger in then taking out seems to reset it as well

once, although it was not as big of a problem as updating the kernel.

i found it was some problem with the skin i was using. I did

the UI is a bit redesigned :) But it says the same: "network error". If
I open the account settings dialog, I see a red area saying:
"Disconnected - Network Error". What is a bit odd, that in settings

When I scroll through the user list, the listbox resizes. This looks
_extremely_ unprofessional and ought to be fixed.
What's even more interesting is that it does it needlessly. I scroll onto root
from my own account and it gets wide

Yes, this needs to exist.
One benefit we have is that Debian uses usergroups, so groups of a
particular user could be available just as a list, and then an
'Advanced' rollout that would be hidden by default (_unless_ the user's
group is not of the same name) which would talk about primary group.

I can't see this behavior ...
For example , if you are using Humanity icon theme , you will notice that /root
, /lost+found directories and similar unreadable directories use an "X" if you
cant access the folder/file,
and a "Lock" if you can

Do you have a precise use case for that? Most groups should be covered
by privileges, and we can add new ones if needed. Sorting groups by
alphabetical order is also planned, that should reduce the need for a
per-user list that I'm not sure anybody will ever implement.
