audio channels are muted?
By default, one of my systems had the Surround channel muted (which
mutes everything) and the PCM volume set to 0 (which was muting audio
from VLC and media players but not the system sounds).

The only (easy) way to get the times right in F-Spot's DB again is to
remove and re-import your pictures, unfortunately.
It would be possible to modify the times in the DB directly, a script
could be written to adjust them "behind F-Spot's back", but that's a
little beyond me right now.

I am still having to use LD_PRELOAD to get pidgin and camorama to work
under Ubuntu 9.10. I have custom wrapper scripts named
/usr/local/bin/${APP}-v4l1compat like:

I guess there is some "official" way to get old applications working

Maybe some standard way to install jaunty packages on karmic?
For me, guipdftk resp. the Freepascal compiler Lazarus are broken.

OK, I think I understand what it does now. However, I'm not sure what
the correct behaviour should be. Changing the "file access" drop down
box to "read-only" only makes sense until you add new files to this
folder. On the other hand, some sort of feedback would be nice. What do

The problem seems limited to a very big local Inbox folder. My Inbox
collects mails from three POP accounts and is 178 MB. One of the
accounts is configured to "leave messages on server".
Now I found a "solution" for me: it's comment #4, but slightly modified:
