I can reproduce the problem consistently on my computer, but only with
Compiz enabled. I realised now that the problem doesn't occur without
Compiz.
1. Enable Compiz (System > Preferences > Appearance > Visual Effects tab >
Normal).
2. Move the mouse to the edge of the screen over some gnome-pan

couldn't reproduce it. There must be some old setting I've got that
causes it.

I have installed Ekiga today and can confirm this behaviour. I'm new to
Ubuntu and Ekiga, but I would love to switch to an open source Skype

This problem affects me as well, but it happens only when closing the
lid, docking the notebook, and then opening the lid when docked. If I do
