The solution to my problems with usb-creator was to use a combination of
the above:
1) Formatting the USB drive with Gparted made the drive usable by usb-
creator (as sdb1)
2) Moving the image to my home directory made the file readable by usb-

If I open a video clip with the subtitle then don't close it and open

when opening up a rar, tar.lzma etc you will get an error currently.
ubuntu should recognize it needs unrar and 7zip and prompt you to
install similar to codec installation.

Configurations in general should be left along by updates; for all the
installer knows, the user may need GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1 for something else,
and if the installer breaks it, it could be very difficult for the user to
track down. Furthermore, there could be many different workarounds/hacks all
... or is working very hard to solve other problems...

Quick fix:
1. go to system -> settings -> prefferred programs
2. chose custom in mail program list
3. you will see :
/usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird "%s"
4. change it to
/usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird %s
5. close
that's all..

screen. There is no way to change the number of Virtual desktops on the
