Actually it seems running that pactl command is not enough to make the
beep work with compiz anymore. Not sure what is going on there.
Also, I've left this bug open against compiz because compiz should use
libcanberra for this too.

So here we are. I've found the problem, which is a wrong command passed
to set the time. The delay before time is reset to its previous value is
quite short, and should be raised I guess. But at least with the patch
at [1], if you're relatively quick, the changes will be applied.

Ugh. This bug is back. This was previously sorted sometime in the karmic
dev cycle, but now after release I am affected by this again. At the set
time to activate the screensaver, my screen dims to black as if about to
start the screensaver, then snaps back to full display brightness.

I also have this bug, but it happens only when I open movies with
subtitles that have same name as movie file. If I turn off option
"Automaticily load subtitle..." then problem disappear. And when I add
subtitle file manually sometimes player will froze.

This just happened to me during a routine update - gdm was updated and
caused a complete GDM failure "Unable to authenticate" --- I had to go
into a terminal screen "C-A-F1" and rollback the update using 'aptitude'
- thank goodness that worked!!!

Oh yes, they work in Mandriva 2010 as well. gnome-libs 2.28.

Well, since you asked, I tested it out in Fedora's rawhide (which is
using Gnome 2.28) and they played just fine. In totem.
