I have the same problem for a Karmic with gnome. Screensaver does not
start automatically, but 'gnome-screensaver-command -a' starts it. It
worked fine in Jaunty.

I've the same issue in 9.10 final. I think the problem could be
somewhere in the configurations of the gstreamer backend. If you run
gstremer-properties, then go to the Video tab, you can test the output.

It seems the problem is the interaction between empathy, telepathy and
the gnome keyrings.

On my clean install of 9.10 the pc speaker is blacklisted by default. To
me this appears to be the 'fix' that the developers put it. The shutdown

This is what i've done:
1.- sudo dbus-monitor --system
2.- loaded users-admin and deleted the user.

Ubuntu 9.10: I was alerted by the apport icon appearing in the menu
bar. I attempted to use apport to report the metacity crash, but apport
put up a dialog box saying it couldn't gather the info for an "assertion
