Binary package hint: gnome-applets
I updated Ubuntu from 9.04 to 9.10. (main restricted universe multiverse
partner karmic-backports, no foreign for now)
I'm using 2 panels, one top, one bottom, with many applets. Amongst others 2
weather applets (2 locations).

im havin the same issue : -(

I ran the same on Karmic and I successfully burnt the audio project. The
output is attached here. Would it be possible to pass the fixes to the
version in Jaunty too?

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would
be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people
writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

in video test also, I get a flickr of a screen which then disappears
immediatly. No bars and stripes.
Opening any kind of video in any type of player is impossible.
I am running 9.10 with all the latest updates. FYI: I was also running
9.10 RC before and video did not work
Because of a hint in a German forum I checked '/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-
base.conf'. At the end of the file was an entry with hda-intel: options
snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N.
I added two parameter and now soundrecord works:
options snd-hda-intel model=auto probe_mask=1 power_sav
