I realized that the error always occurs when the link is to another disk.
In my case the home folder is in sda1 (ext4) and the the link's destination is
in sdb1 (NTFS).
When the link is created on sdb1 (NTFS) and moved to the sdb2 (NTFS), the error
also occurs.

I have the same issue. No sound card is found after upgrading from 9.04
to 9.10.

This happens for me too (karmic, seahorse 2.28.1-0ubuntu1, gnupg
1.4.9-4ubuntu7). GnuPG needs to accumulate random data from the OS,
which as I understand it comes from measuring the timing differences
between keypresses. If you don't get the same effect, you could try
generating lots of subkeys
I encountered the same problem with my integrated MacBookPro keyboard.
It's very annoying to get this error message. From usability point of
view, this bug should be solved to improve the user experience.

i will try, but in my impression when i look at "sub change_user" in
Users.pm with geany, i have the impression as if there where actions
concerning passwords explicitly programmed only for FreeBSD and SunOS.

to reply to the comment gnome-panel didn't change a lot for several
cycles so this bug you refuse to install karmic on is probably there in
any GNOME distribution shipped in the recent years, nobody denies there
is an issue but we get hundred of bugs a day and have ressources to look
only to high p

There's still a slight problem. The drop-down box with the available
shells only shows '/bin/bash' though the file /etc/shells correctly
lists all the shells. Seems like the file /usr/share/system-tools-
backends-2.0/scripts/Users/Shells.pm should grab the shells fr
