After further testing, I was able to determine that this is not
architecture/package-specific either. Creating a blank account account
on this computer, I can see that only my main account is affected, so it
must be the usual "broken/corrupt configuration" problem.

Actually I have committed a fix in August that allows you to choose a UID/GID
up to MAX_UINT32, because we use this type in the D-BUS spec of the backends.

with Gnome-Panel. I think it's managed by the window manager, so if
metacity or compiz runs Gnome-Panel is active. If the icons are not
locked to the panel, they may move when Gnome-Panel is restored by the

I have to say I'm astonished that in 9.10, the eleventh version of
Ubuntu, when a user tries to play a movie DVD, he's greeted with "Error
occured, unable to read from the resource", instead of at least being
given a pointer to the right help page. (The wrong help page would be

freeze. However, Totem does not crash and audio continues to play.
Whenever playback is restarted (either by stop/start/reopen/next-

files.
But F-spot refuses to put them in the computer memory. And I´m really bugged,
because it had a sketch for youtube on it. And my freinds really wanted to see
it.
And it does not take out all of the photo´s either,
I'm doing same just i use "gnome-screensaver-preferences" and turn
idle_activation_enabled... And wollah... GUI :)
Unfortunately this is only temporary solution untill they fix "gnome-
screensaver". But how comes in older version gnome-screensaver did work
properly?

I experience the same problem (I think). I try copying files from a nautilus
SMB share to a nautilus FTP share, and I usually cannot go further than about
500MB (because the SMB share fails, not the FTP)

I didn't. In fact I don't even know how to report bug to Gnome's

After yesterday updates I've lost my window manager - it doesn't start
when I log in. I have to trigger 'compiz --replace' manually - all I get
before that are windows without borders, close buttons etc.

Compiz not installed. No desktop effects are in use.
Occurs after login and when I switch or reconnect to wireless access
points. The box appears for ~20 seconds and then disappears. Yelp

Alright, it looks like gnome-session doesn't even try to start compiz or
nautilus, just gnome-panel.

Now with newer 9.10 laptop lid works very well. Dunno if is interrupt
control changed but now i've solved. Do you need some information for
help ather people?

@om, don't reopen closed bug because you have a similar issue, the
submitter one was solved by changing theme yours is not, those could be
different issues and you just confuse things
