I've just installed 9.10. This option existed in 9.04... It's very
inconvenient since I also use a notebook with external monitor.
Now I'm using a workaround solution - "System">"Preference ">"Display"> uncheck
"Mirror Display" > Turn off the notebook monitor and leave external monitor
turned
Even with the "workaround" for OSS4(Opensound), keyboard shortcuts for
adjusting audio volume no longer work, and pulseaudio can't get along
with OSS4.

kernel module. Screen brightness is dimmed only on first resume from
suspend, but I've also noticed that the screen is not
responding/redrawing correctly on every resume. New windows are drawn
but anything that happens within a wind

- in gnome-power-preferences, set the screen to blank after 1 minute of
inactivity

For people who use their notebooks generally as desktop PCs, they may
also try to set the "Do nothing on closing lid" option on the BIOS
setup. Then turn off the notebook monitor manually using the above
suggestion... but this is a cumbersome workaround solution.

I go through almost exactly the same process every time I upgrade Ubuntu
anymore. I get everything working, then I upgrade and sound fails to work.

I had this issue. My Canon A70 would not connect and gave an error (Bad
parameters). I changed my Nautilus configuration so instead of
automatically opening F-spot, Nautilus would ask me what I wanted to do
(Edit | Preferences | Media tab). This solved the race condition where
F-spot and the Nautil

My error is similar to this behavior, only not precisely this. My
screen says "Time has expired" above the password prompt, and then goes

I was using New Wave (German: Neue Welle). Using Human Clear Looks solves the
problem: F-Spot comes up without any errors. After this the themes Dust-Sand,
Dust and Human work, too.
Summary: After starting F-Spot once using Human Clear Looks one can switch back
to New Wave (or any other theme) w
