In karmic beta (nautilus 2.28.0), the open icon is not used in browser
mode (assumed to be intentional) but works fine across the desktop,
spatial and browser windows in spatial mode. This bug can be closed.

I solved this problem.
The problem was a pidgin plug in for lastfm service, it generates a
conflict with rhythm box last plug in.
"pidgin-lastfm" is the plug in that originated this problem.

The problem was deskbar-applet was reporting the wrong module directory
in deskbar-applet.pc, this is fixed in lp:~ubuntu-desktop/deskbar-
applet/ubuntu. Tracker will need to be recompiled to use the correct

Fresh install of karmic beta 10 Oct 2009
USB transfers great (12-15 Mb/s) to a USB 2 stick, reads were 12-17 Mb/s
After a couple updates I noticed the transfer rates dropping (3-6 Mb/s;
subsequently now the transfer rates are slowing down to 1.
The issue seems to be that gnome-codec-install says:
Packages successfully installed
The selected packages were successfully installed but did not provide all
requested plugins
which appears to make totem blacklist this plugin. On restart it does
find the plugin and works.

I think the issue is that these options need to be set for the gdm user.
Setting them using gconftool-2 or gconf-editor does not make the changes
to the gdm user's gconf store. I even tried su gdm and running gconf-
editor, but it's empty. The gdm user doen't have a store apparently,

As mentioned in another bug, I managed to disable the face browser by
hand editing /var/lib/gdm/.gconf.defaults/%gconf-tree.xml There may be
an incantation of gconftool-2 which can edit this file in a more
friendly, but I haven't discovered it yet. But even then, the login
screen is not optimal.
I've upgraded from jaunty yesterday and seeing this problem -
screensaver does not activate, monitor does not enter powersave mode and
gnome-screensaver-command -a works

I seem to have this bug as well. Suspend started locking the screen when
I enabled the screensaver's locking. This is a change from jaunty, and
pretty surprising. Is it always appropriate to require screensaver to
lock when you want suspend to lock?
