I ran into this error after doing an unclean shutdown on my Thinkpad
T400 running ubuntu 9.04. After restarting my machine, I was seeing
errors in evolution and it was unable to load my inbox. The error was:
"Error while opening store spooldir://var/spool/mail -- database disk
image is malformed."
Once again, I'm amazed how problems can be discussed for over 3 years
with several ideas and propositions without leading to an improvement or
even a solution. ... because there is always the 1 single user (type) or
edge case which could possibly lead to loss of some freedom and
individuality.

googleearth-data (installed from medibuntu) and removed both
~/.local/share/mime and /usr/local/share/mime and gthumb is working as

It's that step that fixed it. ~/.local/share/mime isn't being read
correctly by some libraries until your session is restarted with the
fixed versio
