into "fixed" :-) terminal and back to X, keyboard is dead again. Mouse

I can confirm this on a native machine installation as well. The Ubuntu
logo in the GDM display changes to the GNOME monitor icon and never
changes back after you uncheck the "enhance contrast" option too
(although the colours changed back, but only after a reboot).

Ah, ok, I realized how I did it.
Panel size won't go below 23px *if* the gnome "Application font" is set
to default (10px)
If you change the font settings for "Application font" to 6px you can
get the panel size down to 16px (screenshot attached)

Latest Karmic i386 updates to 2009-10-13 Nautilus cd burner will burn
one copy but fail to burn a second one. Brasero does the same thing.
Once a dvd is burned it will not recognize a new blank dvd.

I have never had this issue before but am now experiencing it using
Karmic Beta (9.10). I cannot watch a movie using VLC without moving the
mouse regularly). I have turned off screensaver and set GPM to never
turn the screen off but it still turns off.

the auto complete adress like stated here. If I open evolution
externally and use the auto complete to fill the 'to' field it fills it
correctly. This may have something to do with the way evolution is
parsing the command line

Suggested packages are already installed, except alsa-oss. Gnome-
alsamixer is old and does not handle some options correctly. It is
better to use xfce4-mixer, it is up to date and fully functional, its
