I'm having similar problems with a Western Digital 1TB USB drive. When I try to
open it in Nautilus the drive light flashes but no window opens. Also in a
terminal tab completions don't work when attempting file operations. Though ls
does show listing and it is possible to copy and create files.

But for the record, if a proper solution doesn't land in time, I now
know how to trivially fix this bug for karmic. If nothing else helps, we
can just disable "can_detach" completely, to pretty much get back the

I had the same issue. When I made changes I was informed it would need
to write to xorg.conf and when I hit ok it would just freeze. This was
obviously because my user doesn't have access to write to xorg.conf.
When I ran gksudo gnome-display-properties everything worked fine.

I would like to confirm this too. I am on Ubuntu Karmic Alpha 5. The
thumbnail seems to take super-long time to create.
I am not 100% sure but I think the issue seems to just occurs in A5 as I
don't seems to recall having problem in A4.

plugin.pc.in should also be adjusted so that cflags propagate properly.
It also turns out that libebook/e-destination.h is included from

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and when I play a DVD it just will not play properly.
The video is broken and jerky... and the sound fractured and jerky too. I did

This is covered by /lib/udev/rules.d/45-libmtp8.rules already; seems RB
doesn't like MTP devices any more? Or at least not this particular one?
