Be problem is in src/palimpsest/gdu-section-partition.c as the Delete
and Apply text are not marked for translations.
This is one possible sollution.

I also face this problem in my MSI Wind U100. This netbook also has bug
#435352 but I think the two issues are not related. It happens quite
randomly and typically stops when you either switches terminals, login,
change brightness, etc. I would say it is just the issue described in

running karmic as a virtualbox machine I noticed that the vboxadd user
(listed as # 999 if memory serves - I am not on my machine right now, I will
correct later if needed) is showed on the karmic login screen (gnome). I
should try to add a user with id 998 to see what is happening.

I have to say this is not a problem from gdm and sure caused by bug
#442742, because the "_Password:" is from policykit-gnome package other
than gdm itself.

I will gladly report the bug again, but describing the bug as 'upstream'
