What I see is that after the appropriate idle time, the screen goes
blank, I can see the backlight turn off, and then a few seconds later,
the backlight comes back on, although the screen stays blank (my
screensaver is set to simply blank the screen).

Well, I disagree with #2.
I use Tomboy heavily, and I so often open a document via the Link in the tomboy
note.
Then, without the folder window open, I am viewing the document.
Thus, it saves me a lot of time by sending it directly from the menu.
Plus, this is a feature Adobe Reader offers.

files. Deleting this folder is denied because it is stated that I do not
have permission. Opening the trash in another file manager shows that
this folder does not exist. Going to the Trash in an xterm and using the

btw, if you want to call 500 or 520 you'll need audio codec PCMA and
video codec H261 (for 500) enabled or it will fail. Those numbers only

Has happened a lot (maybe half of the "very difficult" games) lately.
Common element seems to be that they are all puzzles where I tracked
potential solution, cleared tracker, then re-solved; sometimes several
iterations, but always ending with a filled-in puzzle, no conflicts, no
ta-da, and Sudoku
ALso when you copy a file and try right mouse click to paste a file, the
option is not there because there is no "whitespace" as in the compact
view. Very annoying indeed.

It probably works on vanilla by sheer luck. It has been broken often
which was why I disabled gnome-vfs and gio in the Ubuntu build and
switched it to using gvfs-fuse. That appears to not work for you due to
the bugs with respect to NFS and gvfs-fuse not playing well together.

Addendum: Got to reading the forums and decided to try something. I
still had the game open. I cleared one box, closed Sudoku, opened
