Without an option to listen to localhost only it is impossible to
securely connect to vino server through SSH tunnel. I would say Ubuntu

I've just had a look at the clock preferences - when you go to Locations
and click Add, that's the box I'm seeing.
Normally I don't see this box. I only see it if I hit Alt-F2 while Gnome
is loading.

I reinstalled Ubuntu 9.04.10. I went to terminal windows and did it via
CLI. Had no issues then.
Did an init 6 and had a clean reboot. Went to Synaptic Package Manager
and could update the rest of what I was missing.
