default directory on FTP login, leaving the user to guess their path.

Step 2: scroll down to the "Desktop" section
Step 3: 4th option down is "Home Folder", i clicked where it says "Disabled",
click, and bind to desired keys (in this case "ctrl+z")
Hm... In Gnome there is a trade-off between the feature the GUI exposes
and usability. I need to study the guidelines more deeply and discuss it
with the devs. Maybe this might be part of a more deep change for the
GUI in Ekiga.

Confirming. In my case, g-p-s is disabled to dim while idle, and it
happens even while I am using the keyboard. Last time (yesterday

The problem isn't that alacarte is not asking for root access, the
problem is you've broken your permissions in your home folder. Perhaps
alacarte should handle this better by telling you everything is hosed
and it can't start but the fundamental problem is your permissions are
messed up.

I cannot really explain why the first log (MTU 7000) is a failure.
The PDU is bigger than 1500, Ekiga is sending the packet. But the connection
timeout. Something in path is eating the packet, most probably because of MTU

$ ekiga -d 4 2>output.txt
Wait for the registration to succeed, call and wait until the call fails. Close
Ekiga. Attach the file ouput.txt here.

You need to remove ekiga first:
$ sudo apt-get remove ekiga
Then you can install ekiga-gtkonly:
$ sudo apt-get install ekiga-gtkonly
Since Ubuntu Jaunty, there no ekiga-gtkonly any more.
