apt-get upgrade hung today when configuring gconf2. It could not be
aborted by pressing Ctrl+C, only by killing the process with killall
apt-get or killall dpkg.

rhythmbox and gnome-panel volume control conflict.
If I set both volumes to max and then set the gnome-panel volume to half
the max volume rhythmbox is nearly muted, if I then set rhythmbox volume
to max the global volume control is also max.

It *is* installed by default, the issue is that config is stored in a
new gconf key, and it's only visible when you logoff and login again (or
if you restart gconfd, i'm not sure).
