Very odd indeed - I have three accounts at my bank, two of which open
normally with Evince. The third crashes Evince on loading. I also have
Accoread installed which opens the problem statement normally.
I tested all three accounts going back three months and the result was

I removed the password from the PDF using an evil little decryption
tool, but neither Adobe Acrobat or the PDFEditor

I risked to burn my laptop yesterday. It's extremely hot due to this
bug. This must be given high priority. It CAN NOT be considered normal

1) "sudo renice 20 `pidof gnome-volume-control-applet`"
Check the result with top. Your CPU should spent much time niced now.
2) change the CPU frequency governor with cp
above suggestions would work for all similar situations as well.
Vincenzo, you didn't read the bug carefully before ranting here
unnecessarily. Comment 27 and 28 already tell you how to completely
remedy the situation. Works fine for me, I don't see this problem
anymore.

I have reraised this issue because this disturbing misfeature has always
bugged me no end with vi. The appropriate behaviour is to let the user
confirm that the file has no final newline, with a checkbox to always
silently add one (which I will most definitely never use!), and a
preferences setting
