One more data point. I downloaded Linux Mint 7 Release Candidate 1 and
installed it in a virtual machine, then installed Evolution (and

That's not a gnome-session bug if you're getting as far as usplash.
Could you please boot without "quiet" and "splash" and observe the last
messages that appear on the console when you shutdown from your
graphical session.

Please change this back to an open bug. I had autologin working just
fine under Ibex, then after I upgraded to Jaunty it stopped working,
with no changes on my part.
Additional information: After I boot the machine up, when it arrives at
the login screen, if I ssh in and do "/etc/init.d/gdm stop;
whats incomplete about this bug?

I also have a Dell B130 laptop and MP3's skip occasionally with Totem.
It is much worse with VLC. It happens when there is some other heavy
i/o, e.g. the 'deferred triggers' stage of a package install.

I noticed everything goes fine until the memory gets full, then starts
the swapping and the slowdown. It's like the memory is used as buffer,
when that runs out it uses the virtual memory on the HD. No problem with
small sizes that fit the memory but when you select 100 GB at once ...
