I am connecting from a Jaunty computer to another computer running
Jaunty, using ssh X11 forwarding.
When I try to open any application such as gedit, I get the following
error over and over again:
GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration serv
I've been hanging out in #ubuntu a bit since the Jaunty release, and
this is something that many users are requesting -- users coming from
Windows want their mice to work as they did in Windows... adding this
feature in some way would be very nice.

Integrate "extra buttons" in mouse properties
Could we get an update on this? I'm not sure I want to see these
tooltips stick over my windows until the next Ubuntu release. The
workspace switcher applet could at least be patched to completely remove
these tooltips (should be quite easy AFAICT) until a solution is found
in Compiz.

Like Eckhard I've upgraded to Jaunty (actually via an install of
prerelease version and subsequent updates) and can confirm that CDs work
fine. I can't speak for DVDs since I don't burn these.
The conclusion is that anyone having problems with Brasero/Intrepid
should upgrade to Jaunty.

In the new ubuntu 9.04 when I record something in the .ogg format ..does
not work at all. The sound is malformated, but if I save in .mp3 or .spx
it's ok ! I have made update from previous ubuntu 8.10 ... in this one I
have no problems.

I have modified the '90-Add-guarded-brightness-stepping-functions' patch in
order to get 12 levels of brightness adjustment, and changed the formulas used
to calculate the next step for decreasing/increasing brightness in order to get
constant steps.

I also got it to work by changing the sound in the plugin configuration.
I do not have a gconf key entry:

I have got an AMD athlon 64x2 (duo core)@2.2GHz, 2Gio RAM and 2Gio swap.
Motherboard is an Asus M2N DH with an integrated HDA sound chipset from nvidia.

A further thought ... if normally only make the basename were initially
visible, but on some sort of interaction (mouseover? button?) display
the complete path name, I'd say that could be helpful as well. I
*usually* don't need the complete path name, but it would have been
useful a couple of time
This bug shows up in Ubuntu 9.04. It seems to only affect my cd writer
drive and not my DVD drive which is read only. The backtrace backs this
up, as a brasero library is involved. I havn't tried a usb stick, but I
guess it might be affected as the original poster found.

My gnome-dictionary also no longer connects to dictd at localhost after
upgrading to Jaunty, while fantastdic connects to it with no problems. If as
you say this is a configuration problem and not a bug, could you please tell us
what is configured incorrectly? I am using the same configuration
