Just a short comment to confirm what user Christoph reported above:
session shutdown and saving is sort of working when the "log out" option
is chosen in the menu, but not when the "restart" or "shut down" options
are selected.

ideally, there is several duplicates about that one though and there is
lot of bugs coming after beta so I would rather spend efforts on fixing
issue than looking numbers for you, they should be easy to find though

Further testing reveals that my problem is fixed by simply logging out
and logging in again (no need to mess around with keyboard settings).
Perhaps this is some kind of race condition in the login process?
